Logan Square Kitchen wins accolades

dbHMS project Logan Square Kitchen has been selected by the editorial advisory board of the Real Estate & Construction Review as one of the best new green projects in the Midwest region. The project will be publicized as a Green Building of America Award-winning project and is scheduled to be featured in the upcoming 2009 edition of Real Estate & Construction Review’s Midwest Green Success Stories.

Logan Square Kitchen is commercial kitchen space with a 75-seat event space. The space is designed to be a shared sustainable urban food facility for start-up catering businesses with three separate full service work areas that can be rented by the hour.

dbHMS was the MEP designer and commissioning agent for the project. The project will clock 43% less water consumption through the use of low flow fixtures and dual flush toilets, as well as super high efficient heating, cooling and controllable lighting systems. The highly efficient hot water heater is planned for future expansion to solar thermal. We used innovative strategies to reduce overall energy consumption in the kitchen including a variable rate hood over the convection ovens. This is a LEED Gold commercial interior renovation space.
